Projekt je zaměřen na realizaci volnočasových aktivit pro děti s autismem a jejich sourozence. Aktivity budou realizovány v Auticentru, v němž bude k dispozici prostředí vhodné pro práci dětí s autismem.
Hlavními aktivitami jsou výtvarné dílny, muzikohrátky pod vedením odborné muzikoterapeutky, nácvik alternativní komunikace za pomocí iPadu a uplatnění aplikací vhodných pro práci s dětmi s autismem, setkávání sourozenecké skupiny a letní pobyt na Bukové.
Při volnočasových aktivitách budou lektorům nápomocni studenti Jihočeské univerzity jako dobrovolníci při nezbytné individuální podpoře zúčastněných dětí.
Handicap u dětí s autismem se projevuje zejména v oblasti komunikace, sociální interakce a představivosti. Důsledkem poruchy je neporozumění svému okolí, tomu co slyší, vidí a prožívají, což bývá příčinou problematického chování těchto dětí.
Pro aktivity dětí s autismem je nezbytné připravené prostředí, které dobře znají a v němž se cítí bezpečně. Z tohoto důvodu je prakticky vyloučeno, aby se většina dětí s autimem zapojila do aktivit v běžných dětských volnočasových centrech.
